On Saturday October 05, 2013, Jackson Action Coalition will present its first "Bridging the Gap, Senior Empowerment Breakfast!" Our seniors have paved the way for our youth, as well as young adults, and we would like to show our appreciation by giving them a free hot breakfast. This event is being held to show homage to the seniors in our community, letting them know how vital and appreciated they are to us. We want to acknowledge their hard work, whether they sat in on a MLK speech, joined a movement or made Sunday dinner for their family and friends every week; we want to show our gratitude to them. This will include seniors from nursing homes, retirement homes, as well as seniors living in the community.
J.A.C. will be selling tickets to all ages. Upon purchasing a ticket, the buyer will get a hot breakfast, and in turn will be sponsoring a senior to eat for free. No seniors will be required to purchase a ticket! If a senior chooses to purchase a ticket to help with our cause, all funds will go towards the Senior Program at J.A.C. This event will take place from 9-11:30am. It will be short but powerful!
During this event we would like to present different vendors who can provide information to seniors to assist them with their daily needs. We will also touch briefly on what Jackson Action Coalition is and what our main objectives and goals are. We really want to get the seniors involved in changing the community through our organization. This can be in the form of becoming a J.A.C. member, donating to our cause or informing us of what they would like to see done in the community.
As our mission states, we want to bridge the gap! By getting the seniors involved in our community works, we believe we can do just that! It takes 1 person, to get 1 group of people, to get 1 community to start a movement!
