Not Too Fancy Productions LLC seeks qualified PRODUCTION DESIGNER/TECHNICAL DIRECTOR (“PD/TD”) for it’s upcoming Chicago production of WILD WOMEN OF PLANET WONGO at the Chopin Theatre in Wicker Park, Summer 2018. WILD WOMEN OF PLANET WONGO is a 60’s sci-fi immersive musical comedy about a planet of women who’ve never seen men. It ran in New York for 10 months and is transferring to Chicago, hiring a local cast, crew and design team.

Skills & Qualifications:

WWOPW is an immersive piece performed in a 360 degree atmosphere without any stage, seats or proscenium setting. The “set” is inferred using video and props. Though many of the elements from the New York production can be re-used, PD/TD shall design additional set elements, projection surfaces and props specific to the Chicago production to help create the feeling of outer-space and planet Wongo, including elements for Lounge and Lobby areas. Production Designer will also help to hire other designers as needed and will serve as Design Team leader. PD/TD shall oversee shop bids, construction and execution; lighting, projection and sound bids. PD/TD shall supervise load-in, tech and strike.

Ability to build sets and props a plus. Experience programming Q-lab or any lighting, video or sound design experience, especially for immersive theatre, a plus.
