General Description
Our ideal candidate is someone who is a great writer, media savvy and has some experience in crisis response. The public relations specialist will be a key player in managing crisis response, proactive campaigns and media outreach. The candidate will work with the communications team to develop organic, relevant news stories and create content for multimedia initiatives that is fresh and timely.

Responsibilities:
Write press releases for print, broadcast and electronic media
Field crisis calls and help craft media responses
Respond to reporter requests
Generate story ideas
Report pitching-to-placement success
Help create and maintain favorable company image and reputation
Initiate creative approaches to and channels for news delivery
Research media and industry trends

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism or related area of study
2-3 years’ experience in public relations or related field
Crisis response and media relations experience
Excellent writing skills
Impeccable attention to detail—copyediting and proofing materials
Organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments
Creative, flexible and coachable
Team-oriented
Ability to meet tight deadlines
Must be available after hours to ensure timely media response
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, the Internet, social media and online channels
