• Must have five years’ non-profit professional experience developing and managing individual and corporate giving, events and grants with proven track record.
• Self-driven with proven history of results
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• High level of organizational and project management skills
• Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships
• Ability to recruit and manage volunteers
• Need to be available for occasional weekend or evening work
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Marketing and public relation skills a plus.


This position is responsible for designing and implementing Chicago Voyagers’ development (fundraising) plans for the organization. This work is done in conjunction with the Executive Director, but has a high level of autonomy. The Development Manager is a key part of the Voyagers Leadership team, helping direct the organization. Responsibilities include:

Manage individual giving plan
· Develop a detailed tactical development action plan for individual giving, including major donors.
· Develop and implement a communication plan for donors, potential donors, and other partners.
· Manage our donor database (Donor Perfect).

Manage fund raising events
· Plan and coordinate two annual fundraising events (Gala and Adventure Challenge)
· Establish long term goals for funding raised through events.

Manage Grants
· Plan and manage grant revenue program.
· We currently have a grant writer who researches and writes our grants.

Manage corporate giving plan
· Develop, implement and track an action plan for corporate giving.

· Coordinate regular communications to our constituents.
· Recruit and oversee volunteers assisting with development work.
