Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in partnership with Arlington Heights Senior Center seeks a director for a new Barbershop Chorus. Director will select and teach repertoire along with leading the ensemble in a final showcase.

This is an hourly compensated position.



A co-ed group where senior citizens come together to enjoy and sing Barbershop style music.
The main goal of Barbershop Singers is to use music as a fun and enriching outlet for peer bonding, creative release, personal growth, and confidence development.


Men and women ages 55+ (all levels of experience with singing and music)


Rehearsals: Arlington Heights Senior Center (1801 W Central Rd. Arlington Heights 60005)
Final Showcase: Metropolis Performing Arts Centre (111 W Campbell St. Arlington Heights 60005)


Rehearsals: Mondays, February 19-April 16, 2018 @ 6-7pm
Final Showcase: Sunday, April 22, 2018 @ 11am

Skills & Qualifications:
Experience music directing or teaching groups in singing (ie: church choirs, a cappella groups, community choirs, musical theatre productions, etc.) necessary: vocalists preferred, experience with seniors not required.
Reading music and playing voice parts on piano required.
