HISTORY: Aster House has been renting since 1891 (yes!) and under the present owners since 1982. We've had guests stay as long as 9 years and return as long as for 18 years, so being that well-established and with that kind of loyalty you may be assured of a pleasant stay -- in fact, most of our tenants are referrals or repeats!

NEIGHBORHOOD:
The Aster House is at 1020 W Altgeld, a quiet tree-lined residential street in Lincoln Park, which many consider to be Chicago's most desirable downtown neighborhood. Please note that the close proximity to our neighbors necessitates that our tenants be quietly respectful, so we do not accept guests who plan to party here, as they would be asked to leave.

ATTRACTIONS:
~Within 1/2 to 2 blocks are restaurants, cafes, pizzerias, indie coffee shops, Whole Foods, sports bars, fine and resale shops, a park with free tennis courts and playground, theatres, art galleries, museums, diverse music venues, the post office, public library, dry cleaners, day spas, hair and nail salons, upscale barbers, a late-hours pharmacy, DePaul University. For any late nights or jet lag there are a 24-hour diner, 24-hour Vietnamese, 5 am pizzerias, even a 3 am bakery-- which all deliver!
~ Within 2 - 10 blocks are 2 multi-screen movie houses, theatres, 2 comedy clubs, health clubs, several Starbucks, Lincoln Park, more pocket parks, the lake/Fullerton beach with its 18-mile biking/running path,2 farmers' markets May 1 -Oct 31, the year-round free city zoo and botanical gardens, and necessities e.g. banks, hospitals, Best Buy, Target, Trader Joe, and shops including TJMaxx, Anthropologie, Nordstrom Rack, Barnes & Noble, etc. Wrigley Field is 10 blocks right up the street.

TRANSPORTATION:
We're 1 block from the Fullerton subway/el station (Red, Brown, Purple lines). There also are taxicabs, 2 city bicycle rental stations, 4 buses, copious roving Lfyt/ Ubers to reach the rest of the city. We are 1 mile from both Lakeshore Drive and Routes 90/94 for easy vehicle access.

THE HOUSE:
Built in 1891, this totally updated Victorian-style house has a back yard, a covered porch with rockers, and spacious sundeck with umbrella table, chaises, chairs and charcoal grill.

THE APARTMENT:
1. *Elizabeth's Place* ~1500 square feet, 1st level, hardwood oak floors
> Entry: coat closet, storage
> Living room: ample seating, large sunny window, cable flatscreen TV , Art Nouveau desk
> Dining room: table to seat up to 8, large armoire with closets, highboy, music system
> Gourmet kitchen with unusual cabinetry designed by the owner: SubZero refrigerator with 2 freezers, stainless dishwasher, 4-burner glass cooktop, stainless self-clean electric oven, microwave, toaster oven, blender, coffee maker, Corian counters and sink, table to seat 4
> Bedroom 1: queen bed, pearwood dresser, 2 hand-painted night tables, shelving, closet
> Bedroom 2: full antique bed, dresser/desk, night table, closet, storage
> Bedroom 3/Study: full deluxe futon bed or sofa, desk, table, bookshelves, extra deep closet
> Bathroom: rainhead shower over clawfoot tub, sink/vanity, shelving
> Front entrance and private rear entrance

All AMENITIES included:
> Secure high-speed Wifi
> Cable television with DVD player
> Guest-controlled air conditioning
> Private free seasonal full-size front-load laundry

> Storage

MISCELLANEOUS:
The house is strictly NON-SMOKING, though ashtrays are provided on the porch and sundeck. And so sorry, but no pets.

PARKING:
A vehicle is not necessary here -- but if you have one with you, street parking is easy to find and we'll explain the local parking rules. A single spot in the 2-car garage out your back door is $215/monthy.

RATE:
US$2400/month if you choose to usejust 1 bedroom, US$2650/month if you use 2 and US$2900 for use of all 3 bedrooms. And no -- no one else will come into your apt to use them! As it saves us wear n tear, cleaning etc for unused rooms, we pass on the savings to our tenants!
