The International Music Foundation (IMF) is pleased to announce the 2018 James Weging Internship. Working under the supervision of the Production Coordinator, the Weging Intern will assist in the production of the 8th annual Make Music Chicago and provide production support for other IMF programs.

Make Music Chicago (MMC) is a day-long, citywide, DIY music festival that celebrates the musician in us all through nearly 200 performances and play-alongs across Chicago on June 21st.

The primary responsibility of the Weging Intern will be to coordinate with artists and venues to help produce nearly 200 June 21st performances as part of MMC 2018 on June 21st. The intern will also assist with the 2018 social media campaign and with maintenance of the Make Music Chicago website. Production-related responsibilities for other IMF programs may also be assigned depending on the skills & interests of the 2018 intern.

The successful candidate must have outstanding interpersonal communications skills, excellent organizational and time management skills, uncompromising standards of excellence around accuracy and discretion, and the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks on tight deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, and social networking is required. Experience with Wordpress, audio editing, and/or Adobe Creative Suite is desirable.

The internship runs from January 1 to June 30th and offers a stipend of $5,000. Hours are flexible: 12-14 hours per week from January through April and 20-30 hours per week during May and June. The intern must be available all day on June 21st.

Make Music Chicago Production

● Research new site, performer, cultural/community partner possibilities

● Participate in site visits and maintain site records

● Provide support for volunteer informational and training sessions

● Assist Production Manager with musician assignments and production advances

● Assist Production Manager with creation and maintenance of internal MMC Production Calendar

● Maintain MMC Performance Schedules

● Manage signage inventory and distribution



Make Music Chicago Marketing and Communications

● Maintain MMC’s social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram

● Assist in the production and distribution of MMC print collateral

● Update MMC signage and flyers [qualification dependent]

● Maintain MMC website (Wordpress) [qualification dependent]

Desirable
