A fast-paced fine art conservation studio in Chicago seeks a graduate of Art History, Museum Studies, or other related program for a full time temporary position working as an Assistant Registrar and Interim Office Manager. The position is to last 5 months, but may continue indefinitely. Job duties include: coordination of all business and client communications, invoicing, treatment proposal preparation including photography and uploading images, object record creation and database upkeep, and physical handling and organization of artworks. Other duties include ordering and tracking studio and office supplies, conducting research, making contacts, occasional delivery of artworks to and from clients, contributing to marketing efforts, as well as additional studio work as needed.

Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelors or Masters Degree preferred in art history, studio art, museum studies, or other related field and/or a minimum of two (2) years experience in collection management and or arts administration. Experience in framing, art handling, photography, and knowledge of art conservation practices is highly desirable. Additional qualifications: a demonstrated, practical knowledge of collections management policies and procedures; knowledge of museum registration methods, collections management practices, and object handling; a valid driver’s license; ability to work independently as well as part of a team and to exercise discretion, initiative, and judgment; attention to detail; ability to stand for prolonged periods, reach, step on step stools/ladders, push and pull shipping/packing crates, and carry artwork and artifacts weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.
