AkzoNobel Specialty Chemicals - has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Internal Auditor.

The Chicago office of Internal Audit is primarily responsible for auditing the audit universe (i.e. operating entities, regional offices, SBU’s and BU’s) within the Americas (North and South) region.

The Senior Internal Auditor is responsible to provide assurance to auditees (i.e. local entities/sBU /BU /BA and ExCo and Audit Committee) that their systems of internal controls are adequately designed and operating effectively as designed. In addition, identify and recommend on opportunities for improving the existing systems of internal controls and endorse best practice solutions. Furthermore, develop and prepare (financial) staff for future management roles.

To achieve this, Internal Audit employs 52 FTE in 4 office locations across the globe. On occasion, the team members also participate in audits in other regions.

- Specific Tasks:

- Plans and performs complicated audits under supervision
- Plans and performs less complicated audits under remote supervision
- Works alongside IT Auditors during performance of integrated audits
- Prepares audit report
- Coordinating lead auditor for assigned audits
- Responsible for quality compliant audit file in line with the Internal Audit Manual
- May support a Business Unit Auditor as a Business Unit Auditor Assistant
- May support a Functional Area Auditor as a Functional Area Auditor Assistant
- Reports to the Internal Audit Manager

Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, preferred major in accounting or auditing
- Minimum of 3 years audit experience in public accounting and/or or in a large internal audit function
- Professional certification such as RA, CPA, CIA, RO, RE, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, CISA a plus
- Thorough knowledge of accounting theory, internal control and auditing standards, programs and techniques
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision when necessary
- Possesses an organized approach and the ability to distinguish between the essential and
- Ability to participate in team or project activities with dialogue, facilitation, feedback, and clarification meeting skills and related communication techniques
- Sensitive to deadlines and budget constraints
- Ability to prioritize
- Good report writing skills
- Ability to recognize conditions warranting attention and develop practical solutions
- Experience of living and working internationally would be an advantage
- Additional language ability may also be advantageous, Portuguese and/or Spanish a plus
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time (domestic and international)
